Meanwhile, comedian Charles Bukenya Muvawala aka Charlie Muvaks who is to headline the event has upped the ump and is promising more than just a fabulous time at the fundraiser this Saturday. “I am coming with a bagful of new jokes that will bring the roof down and leave all revelers cracking with laughter, he said in a phone interview with the  EADM on Monday. “I am calling upon all Ugandans in the DFW area to flock the Barbara Dancing Studio for this fundraiser to have a blast,” Charles Bukenya Muvawala aka Chalie Muvax promised. “I pledge that no one will leave the studio feeling the same way they came,” he assured.   He suggested that one need not come with the deepest of pockets but to be present to actively engage in the excitement generated during the course of the auction, partake of the collective fun, and etch one’s name in a historical and noble event designed to improve the health and save lives of our fellow Ugandans.

Charles Bukenya Muvawala, who occasionally performs at Boston theater, said he had been humbled and honored to be invited to serve Buganda outside the Kingdom and Uganda in general.  “I consider this as a personal honor and achievement in my life to work for the betterment of Buganda kingdom while here in the Diaspora,” he said with discernible humility in his voice. But quickly added: “The organizers have not invited a fisherman (read omuvubi) but someone to whom entertainment is second nature,” he said. “I am going to give the best of my best on that eventful evening,” he assured.

Muvawala said that since he has experience in conducting fundraising activities including auctions of items, he will not disappoint those who put their trust in him and invited him to come and raise money while at the same time offer the much-needed entertainment people seek. “Since I have been to Dallas countless times, I consider Texas my second home and   I am looking forward to competently manage the event and raise some good money for this noble cause of shipping the mobile clinic to Uganda,” Muvawala, also a talk show host at one of the local radio stations in Boston said.

Headlining fundraising events is no strange territory for the Boston-based comedian. In 2015, Charles Bukenya Muvawala headlined the fundraiser when Katikiro Charles Peter Mayiga officiated at the inaugural Buganda Bumu convention in Boston. “I am confident that I will add value and elevate this event to the highest pedestal on which it is meant to stand,” he said with discernible poise in his voice. Harping further at his record as a skilled fundraiser, he said:  “Even in Boston, whenever you hear of any fundraising event, Muvawala is associated with it.” Charles Bukenya Muvawala, aka Chalie Charles Bukenya Muvawala has been selected to serve as one of the Master of Ceremonies (MC) in Atlanta during the forthcoming BBCN event in May this year, the EADM has learned.

During the fundraiser, attendees are also assured of a sumptuous dinner, courtesy of MS Sarah Nassuna, an evolving household name in the DFW area with respect to her skills to wet and quench appetites. A plateful of freshly home-made African food accompanied with all the sides will be going for $10 at the event is the greatest bargain any party merrymaker would ever dream of. “I am honored to be of service and I am ready to serve to the best of my ability,” Sarah Nassuna told the EADM in a phone interview over the weekend. “I can testify to the fact that Sarah’s food is deliciously tasty and is worth more than the price, JMK; a regular patron told the EADM as Sarah who was in earshot nodded in agreement. I agreed too.  Come hungry to leave both as a satisfied and gratified community member for participating in such a noble cause that is poised to transform lives of millions of our kith and kin in mother Uganda.

Veteran DJ Shem Sebugwawo will be doing what he does best; spinning the music that will keep revelers on the dance floor non-stop. It will be a mix Ugandan-composed of oldies, rap, hip hop, blues, rock and roll, and Kiganda traditional music that has over the years helped to render the previously popular Congolese music not only an afterthought but worse than merely forgotten.

He will be assisted by some youthful DJ who is expected to give the millennials the best of time this spring and send them paka chiini, paka ju! Come and support the Mobile Clinic project. It is a fun-packed evening that you do not want to miss. Be there or be square!
