Nabagereka, Queen of Buganda, Receives a Rapturous Welcome to San Francisco, California

San Francisco, California--The Nabagereka, Queen of Buganda, Slyvia Najjinda Luswata started her royal visit to San Francisco, California last Tuesday. She was welcomed by hundreds of ecstatic Baganda and a cross-section of jubilant Ugandans living in California and neighboring states led by her chief hostess, the Representative of the Ssabassajja Kabaka of Buganda, omumbejja (princess) Mrs. Dorothy Musoke Mugerwa. Also at hand to welcome the Buganda Queen were the Kabaka Representative to Southern California, Omugave Nduggwa, and the treasurer (omuwanika) of Buganda in Northern California and Nevada Mr. Moses Muyenga. The visiting Nabagereka was later hosted to a royal dinner at the Hilton Hotel. The Nabagereka also toured the Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Walnut Creeek, near San Francisco, California. The Queen’s delegation was led on the tour of the hospital by Kareen Knowles, the associate medical group administrator and the head of the pediatric department at the hospital.
